While being a part of the Corps of Cadets and pursuing a Bachelor of
Science, he used sketching as an outlet for the stressful points in his college
career. Late in 2010, C.J.
received his first art commission. Knowledge of his artwork spread, and he
realized that the years of developing his skill was beginning to be realized. During that
time, C.J. continued to develop himself as an artist through a steady stream of
commissions.
As an active duty Marine he attempts to capture his experiences through free-time sketches. He believes his passions for art and the Marine Corps compliment each other, and
he uses his experiences to fuel his creativity.
As a designated 4606 Combat Artist, C.J. has deployed in support of multiple Marine Expeditionary Units (MEU), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Military Exercises, Special Purpose Marine-Air-Ground Task Forces (SPMAGTF) and local Marine Corps training exercises across the country. His work is displayed in The Pentagon, The National Museum of the Marine Corps, The Basic School at MCB-Quantico, and the Naval Striking and Support Forces-NATO Headquarters in Portugal.

Without formal training, C.J. continues to expand his aesthetic
skills and establish connections with experienced artists. Though his genesis was with graphite
pencil, he also uses mediums such as charcoal, colored pencil, watercolor, acrylics, and
oils. Art
is a part of how he engages the world and he intends to always be a faithful
steward of his God-given gift.
